 Alimentaria is the largest exhibition of the agri-food industry in Spain and one of the first in the world, attracts buyers from all over the world looking for business and export opportunities. In addition, the latest trends in the sector are shown and the connection between industry and gastronomy is reinforced.

The exhibition occupies practically the entire Gran Via venue at Fira de Barcelona. International visitors, importers and distributors from the Latin American, North American and Asian markets attend.

The emblematic Barcelona exhibition is divided into 14 monographic salons: Intervin (wines and spirits), Intercarn (meat products and derivatives), Olivaria (olive oil and vegetable oils), Interlact, (dairy products and their derivatives), Multiproduct (food products in general), Mundidulce (candy, biscuits and confectionery), Expobebidas (water, soft drinks and beers), Expoconser (canned and semi-preserved), Interpesca (seafood, aquaculture and fish farming), Congelexpo (frozen products), Organic Food, Restaurama (food outside the home), the Autonomies Pavilion, with the participation of the different regions and councils, and the International Pavilion, with companies and institutional representations from different countries.

Another novelty is “The Alimentaria Experience”, a large activity space, which brings together nearly 50 chefs with more than 50 Michelin stars such as Joan Roca, Juan Mari Arzak, Quique Dacosta, Pedro Subijana, Carme Ruscalleda … These great chefs will star in demonstrations culinary live and will teach gastronomic workshops. Also, in this environment the final of the Chef of the Year Contest is held.

On the other hand, oil is always one of Alimentaria’s star products, it can be seen at the traditional Olive Oil Bar Gourmet, where professionals who visit the fair can taste a hundred references from all over Spain and compare the different aromas, flavors and nuances.

In turn, the event hosts “The Alimentaria Hub”, where, among the many activities, the International Congress of the Mediterranean Diet stands out, focused on the prevention of diseases from healthy eating; Innoval, an exhibition with 300 innovative launches; the Nestlé Forum “Creating Shared Value”, which analyzes the food sector in light of the nutritional challenges of the 21st century; the innovation meetings of the Federation of Food and Beverage Industries (FIAB) regarding the development of food products for the elderly; and the new initiative The Food Factory, which connects start-ups with Business Angels willing to invest in them.
